TeamMCR partners with Royal Ballet & Opera to champion children’s rights through dance

TeamMCR is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Royal Ballet & Opera, bringing inclusive dance and creative movement opportunities to schools across Manchester. The collaboration supports the city’s education priorities around inclusion, wellbeing, pupil voice and enrichment, helping children who face barriers to participation experience the joy of cultural learning.

Dance for Rights – Live at The Monastery

On 7 July 2026, schools across Manchester and the UK will unite for Dance for Rights, a joyful celebration of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. TeamMCR will host a live event at The Monastery, where KS2 pupils will connect movement, identity and belonging through dance led by Royal Ballet artists. Schools can take part from the venue or join virtually from their own classrooms and halls — dancing together as part of a nationwide movement for inclusion and friendship.

This initiative aligns with Manchester’s Child Friendly ethos. Together, we’re celebrating every child’s right to take part in school life and access creative opportunities in line with article 28 and 31 of the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child.

Schools will can take part from their own classrooms/halls, joining thousands nationwide.

Certified CPD – Coming Later in 2026/27

Following the summer event, TeamMCR and the Royal Ballet & Opera will deliver a FREE inperson, certified CPD for teachers. This interactive workshop will help educators:

  • Build confidence in teaching dance
  • Learn creative strategies to engage all pupils
  • Gain practical, ready‑to‑use classroom activities
  • Explore inclusive practice and adaptations for diverse needs

Open to primary, secondary and special schoolteachers, this rare opportunity will empower staff to bring the magic of movement into their schools.

Together, we’re celebrating Every Child. Every Move.
