England Hockey Schools Programme

Manchester has a strong hockey infrastructure, with eight affiliated hockey clubs in the city and more than 30 clubs across Greater Manchester offering junior sections.

In partnership with the Youth Sport Trust and England Hockey, Manchester became part of the Strategic Hockey Leads (SHL) programme, which aims to reverse the decline in hockey participation in state schools. The project focuses on increasing engagement in primary schools by improving perceptions of hockey through positive first experiences, teacher training, inclusive festivals, and sustainable school-to-club links.
