Congratulations to MCR School of the Year – Ashbury Meadow

At a star studded Mcr Sports Awards evening, three schools took to the stage for the prestigious Manchester School of the Year. Huge congratulations to St John RC Primary & Rolls Crescent Primary for their nomination and to Ashbury Meadow Primary School crowned Manchester School of the Year.

Ashbury Meadow received their award for reaching out to neighbouring schools to set up a variety of sporting competitions for children of all ages and abilities. They have also introduced a range of sport-driven intervention groups for young carers, children suffering with anxiety and and requiring support with their emotional wellbeing. The introduction of an ’emerging talent’ after school club for year’s 2, 3 & 4 and an ‘elite development’ club for years 5 & 6 enabled more girls to access structured football sessions and has created a real passion for the game.

Well done to all.
