🌙 It was a real privilege to host such an insightful and timely session on “Supporting Physical Activity, Wellbeing and Inclusion during Ramadan: Guidance for Schools & Community Settings” ahead of Ramadan beginning on 14/02/26.
👏 Special thanks to Dr Irfan Khawaja Lecturer in Public Health at the University of Wolverhampton , for delivering an engaging and thought-provoking session. Dr Khawaja’s nationally recognised Ramadan guidance has been widely adopted across UK schools and is backed by key organisations including the Association for Physical Education (AfPE), Youth Sport Trust , CIMSPA , and Muslim Council of Britain
🔑 Key outcomes from the session included:
• A deeper understanding of the latest national guidance on teaching PE and physical activity during Ramadan
• Practical strategies for schools and community settings to support young people and staff to remain active while fasting
• Greater clarity around legal compliance and inclusive practice
A huge thank you to Broughton Park FC (Rugby Union) for hosting us at their fantastic venue in Manchester. Thank you also to our partners at Manchester Active for funding to make this course possible
Looking forward to continuing to work with partners in ensuring wellbeing, inclusion, and equity for Muslim students and staff during Ramadan.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such meaningful discussions.
